I've downloaded this anyway, and just have to run a very, very stripped back version to enable my computer to cope. The trouble is that my controller is as old as the hills and very cheap, so I'm still struggling a lot with the handling and finding it difficult to get through a stage in one piece and quicker than the clubman cars! Think I may spend the money on a dealy so that I can use a 360 controller rather than one that still has just a D-pad.
Love the stages (even if some of the Monte ones seem familiar from DiRT 3's DLC) and the way that cars handle under power. Only real negative that I've found is that sometimes you hit a tiny bump at 40mph and it throws you off the edge of the world.
Steering is very sensitive and FFB is quite crap. Definitely potential though, but far far away from a proper sim.
Different people, different wishes then I guess. I only ever drive sims, I'd love a full blown rally sim.
DiRT Rally is still a fun game though, there's a file which improves the FFB quite a bit. My main issues are the tarmac physics which are way off and the fact it's possible to brake extremely late.
By the way, Kevin Abbring has been playing it quite a bit and has set some fastest times on the 'Daily challenge' events. Here's an onboard with him in an M3 on Sweet Lamb:

Wish I could play it too :(
My point about a 100% simulation is that you would never be anywhere close to competitive or good enough...unless you're a WRC class driver. I just don't think that a super real game is going to be that interesting, even for those that frequently say they want an all outsim.
I wonder if we'll have Toyota Rally Pack..? (Celica, Corolla, Yaris, and GT86)
